About Us
Connecticut Food and Weighing Equipment was founded in 2004 by owner Ed Wiernasz. Ed's experience in the food equipment business dates back to 1978. With a background in electrical engineering, Ed started as a service technician with Drico Corporation at the age of 19. While working at Drico, Ed saw an opportunity with the Hobart Corporation as an electronic service technician servicing commercial scales, automatic wrapping machines, and other commercial food equipment in the greater Hartford area.
After seven years of servicing food equipment with Hobart, Ed was offered a position as a Territory Sales Representative for the retail division of Hobart Food Equipment and began his career selling to retail food establishments in Connecticut and Massachusetts. With a background in service, Ed not only sold equipment but also had the ability to understand how equipment worked making him not just another sales rep trying to sell a product. Customers felt comfortable dealing with Ed and in his first year of sales with Hobart, Ed was one of the top three sales reps in the United States and was well on his way to a career as a top sales rep and performer within the Hobart organization.
After 25 years employed with Hobart, in 2004 Ed decided to leave and start Connecticut Food and Weighing Equipment, LLC. Ed's vision was to create a company that would cater to all customers whether large or small–providing personal service that is missing or overlooked in most companies today. Ed learned early in his career that you must always "Do what you say you will do". Following up with customers is of key importance in establishing a lasting relationship based on trust, honesty, and integrity.
